I grew up in a family and community that valued service to others. In college, I began my quest to understand human behavior better and learn more about how we can discover and become our best selves. On my own life’s journey, I’ve come to know that our time on earth is intended to allow us to learn, grow and develop our personal integrity. My teacher/counselor has assisted me in this, and in turn, I offer support and guidance to others seeking to heal from the past and claim their authentic, powerful selves.
I am a spiritual counselor because I know everything is energy first. This is our beginning, and this is how we will leave Mother Earth, not with our bodies, but as the spiritual beings we are. I walk with the knowledge that we are spiritual (energetic) beings in human form. This has led me to be increasingly aware of my energetic relationship with every living being. This has transformed my way of seeing, relating and making everyday choices. I am grateful that I can offer guidance to others looking for their pathway to transforming current life into a more empowering one.
Shortly after I began to explore spirituality with a shaman of the Lakota tradition, I was diagnosed with cancer for the first time. My seven-year cancer journey seeped into every aspect of my life. Fortunately, I had also begun the Rubenfeld Synergy Training program. This assisted me in working simultaneously with mind, body, emotions and energy, both within myself and with my clients. Seeing cancer as a spiritual journey, I gradually shed victimhood for discovery of gifts within the experience. I learned the truth of the native peoples – every experience is an opportunity for increasing self-awareness and for the evolution of my soul.
"The person who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is the person who cares." -Henri Nouwen
As a quiet individual, I am naturally an observer and listener. You’ve probably noticed how many “talking heads” we have on TV, radio and in person. What seem to be lacking are listening ears. In contrast, I am willing to simply be present with you, either listening to what you say or to your silence. I am willing to stay present through the tough times when others have moved on.
Since humans are made to move, being physically active is important to me personally. My favorite ways of doing this are swimming, bicycling and hiking. To promote my own life-long learning, I continue my spiritual journey with the guidance of my spiritual teacher and in the company of other students. Reading, watching movies and traveling also offer me a chance to expand my personal knowledge and knowledge of others. My own self-care is a pre-requisite for helping you or anyone else, and I encourage you to prioritize your self-care as well.
I view life as continual learning, growing and evolving. Just as I respect my own journey, I respect how every human’s journey is unique in this way.
